Spaghetti Wednesday

Oops. I didn't get a post up last night. That's why it says "mostly" up there! Lol

Anyway, scout camp was canceled tonight due to weather, and Dad was very happy to be able to have us all around the table for a family favorite: Spaghetti Wednesday!

Now, I want to stress how much my family likes this. We literally had it every week for the longest time. Only recently have I insisted we change it to Italian Wednesday simply for my own sanity! And no, I am not italian. Not directly anyway. But my husband will tell you I can make Spaghetti with the best of them. You wil laugh when you hear how I make it.Sooooooo simple.

Tonight I browned up a lb of ground beef. Just crumble as you brown it. A wooden spatula works best for me. Drain off the fat and continue below.

Most nights, though, I prefer a sweet italian sausage. I've used bulk ground sausage but found I like the texture of the links better. Just brown them up and slice into bite size pieces. It's ok if they aren't quite cooked through yet.

Now, take your meat and put it in a medium sauce pot. Here is the easy part. Simply pour in your favorite jarred sauce. I prefer Ragu parmesan & romano. Now one thing most people don't know is to add about a teaspoon of sugar to the sauce. This helps to cut the acidity of the tomatoes. So you have your meat, sauce, and sugar in the pot. Heat to a simmer and cover. Reduce heat to low and simmer for at least 30 min. On a day when I have lots of errands I've even put it in the crock port from here and just left it on low until dinner.

That's it. Serve over your favorite pasta and add a salad and bread and your done!
